My father and I were returning home from a trip to mow someone's lawn, and our truck didn't start. It clicked but did not start. We were able to turn the engine over by pushing it manually, and returned home. We attempted several more times to start the car after that, but to no avail. We replaced the battery, and that wasn't the cause. We replaced the alternator. That wasn't the cause either. After tedious picking around, we discovered the problem. There is a positive charge going to the negative terminal, causing it to short out. I understand that the negative is supposed to be a ground, but there's a charge going to it. My father can stick the light tester against any metal part of the truck and it lights up, revealing that current is going to it. We replaced the solenoid, and it's still having problems. We looked into the IP and, using a voltage tester, checked every fuse one by one. The only fuse that did anything to the voltage was the hazard light fuse. It dropped the needle down not even half an amp. We have yet to see if there is a fray in the wire, but are there any other possible things we may have overlooked or not checked yet? I would really appreciate some knowledge and advice. Sorry for the book here, but we're perplexed.
