SMS use is declining, even in the texting capital of the world ...

Text messaging is on the decline, even in the Philippines, the so-called texting capital of the world.

?

Gone are the days when SMS was the staple means of communication via mobile phone.
?

?

According to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) in a report on 24 Oras, the decline in text messaging began in 2010.

?

NTC data show that around 500 million texts are sent daily, compared with around 2 billion on average previously.

?

With the increasing number of phones with internet and wireless connection capabilities, connecting to the Web seems to matter more and more compared to texting.

?

Web surfing promos by telecommunication companies, as well as various web communication applications also contribute to less texting.

?

As it is, the NTC said that, instead of SMS traffic, consumers now face slower internet access due to high demand. ?? TJD, GMA News
