Bucky Lasek clinches Skateboard Vert gold at X Games Barcelona ? Extreme Sports News
America?s Bucky Lasek added another X Games gold medal to his collection after emerging triumphant in the Skateboard Vert final.
Marcelo Bastos from Brazil managed to get hold of the silver medal, while the young American sensation Mitchie Brusco rounded out the podium, consequently taking home the bronze medal.
Taking place at the Piscina Municipal de Salts in Barcelona, Spain, on Thursday, May 16, the first medal event of the first-ever X Games Barcelona was undoubtedly the highlight of the day.
With top riders from across the globe in contention for the coveted X Games gold medal, there was hardly any doubt that the afternoon showdown between the contenders was going to be full of fireworks. After all, putting eight riders in an arena, with all of them equally hungry for the same one thing, could deliver one thing and one thing only, adrenaline-pumping action.
As the battle for the top spot on the podium and the desirable gold medal got underway, it did not Lasek too long to assert his dominance over his rival.
The 40-year-old American rider had topped the podium at the Brazilian edition of X Games and once again reminded everyone in attendance at the latest event site that he is the hottest thing in the discipline right now through some breath-taking manoeuvres off the ramp.
He looked in complete control during the course of his run in the final and successfully managed to enchant the judges into scoring the run an 88.745. The score turned out to be a decisive one, as it held up until the end to see Lasek off to victory.
He said, ?I came here to enjoy and had nothing to lose. I can't believe it, another gold medal. I'm living a dream.?

Even though Lasek stole the show, Bastos managed to get his presence felt during the final as well. The 26-year-old put together a sensational run as well, earning an 87.582 and thus the silver medal for his effort.
Despite finding himself pitted against the skateboarding heavy-weights at one of the biggest stages of action sports, the 16-year-old Brusco proved himself to be wise beyond his years.
Showing absolutely no signs of pressure or intimidation, the young American rider barely missed out on the silver medal after earning an 87.327 off his best run. The effort did not go to waste though, as he collected a bronze medal for his amazing performance.
Brusco, however, would surely consider keeping his compatriot Andy Macdonald and Canada?s Pierre-Luc Gagnon, who finishing in fourth and fifth place respectively, off the podium an even greater accomplishment.
