President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was in London to
attend the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, has met the British
Prime Minister David Cameron yesterday (June 06) during a luncheon
hosted by the Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma in honour
of the Queen.
The President has apprised the British Premier of the current situation in Sri Lanka and the development work taking place in Sri Lanka, expecially in former conflict areas. Sri Lankan high commissioner in Britain Dr. Chris Nonis has also participated in the discussion
Following the reception, the President and the First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa have left for the Vatican. He is expected to participate in Vesak celebrations organized by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Rome at the FAO headquarters today.
