In the majority of the cases you can contact these diseases in case you have sex with an infected person. Nonetheless there are some other diseases as well, such as scabies that are referred to as an STD because they can be contacted sexually, but there are some other ways as well for you to get it.

Gonorrhea

This disease is also known as the clap and the bacteria causing it can be found in the moist parts of the body, such as the vagina, eyes, penis, throat, or rectum. People get infected in case they get in contact with one of these body parts. A person that is infected could transfer the infection from one part of the body to the other through touch. This can be passed from one person to the other through oral, vaginal or anal sex, and mothers can also pass it to their newborn child.

Dyspareunia

This is the condition that you have in case you experience pain during intercourse. You could be feeling a burning, searing, sharp or cramping sensation. There are numerous possible locations of the pain, such as the exterior of the vagina, the interior, the abdomen or the pelvic region.

The causes of dyspareunia could be organic or psychological. Since the real cause might be a combination of different factors, it is possible that the actual source will never be found.

Chancroid

This is an infectious disease, but it is easy to cure. The interesting thing about the bacterium that is causing the illness is that it can be contracted without sexual activity. Some time ago it has been considered rare in the U. S. and it was more common in Asia and Africa because of the frequency of sexual activity. In case women get infected usually they don?t know about it and this is why it is possible for the infection to pass so fast to other people.

Genital warts

This is the most common STD among women. The virus causing it is known as human papillomavirus or HPV. According to official information, there might be about 20 million infected people in the U.S. Even more, there are about 5.6 million new infections recorded yearly.

The truth is that HPV doesn?t always causes genital warts and in some case there are no symptoms at all. In case there are symptoms of genital warts, it is possible that they show months or years after the infection occurred.

Trichomoniasis

This one of the STDs is caused by a parasite that prefers to live in the urogenital tract of women and men. The parasite can infect just any sexually active person, especially those who don?t use protection or those who have multiple partners.

There is a lot that women have to watch out for regarding STDs. Nonetheless their majority is easy to treat.
